Like many, I wanted to celebrate my 30th birthday in style.
I did a boudoir photoshoot. It was something outside of my comfort zone. A friend of mine did it for her birthday, which inspired me to do it as well. If you haven’t done one, it is truly a confidence boost we all need. Let me know if you would like a post about my boudoir photoshoot.
A few days leading up to my birthday, I decided to spend time in Corpus Christi. Read about my experience here!
Birthday Dinner Celebration Plans
My husband and I enjoy fine dining. Ultimately, we enjoy trying new restaurants throughout the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex. I knew I wanted to go somewhere “upscale, nice & fancy.” Which would have a “NICE” price tag to go along with it haha.
I kept seeing Nick’s & Sam’s Steakhouse on my Instagram feed. Once I looked over the menu, I knew this was the place I wanted to go. I shared the restaurant with my “fiancé” at the time and he was down. It would be a new experience for both of us.
I made our reservation on July 7th for July 29th since I didn’t know how fast their reservations booked up. I also planned a trip to Corpus Christi for my actual birthday. Read the blog post here for my trip to Corpus Christi, Mustang Island. So, the 29th of July was perfect for our dinning experience.
OUR EXPERIENCE
The vibe in the restaurant is amazing. It is a low lighting setting. The Host placed confetti on our table since, I noted in our reservations, we would be celebrating a birthday. I really felt like it was ALL ABOUT ME!
We received complimentary caviar and champagne. Neither one of us, had caviar before so we both looked at each other like “Are we going to try it?” Of course, we did because where else would we try caviar let alone “free.” It had a unique taste, but it wasn’t bad at all. I would recommend trying it if you haven’t.
Our waiter came around, to explain the menu and different cuts of meat. He had a board of steaks to show the different selections Nick & Sam’s offer.
We ordered two alcohol beverages, because why not it is a celebration. My husband ordered a table side drink. I don’t think he knew exactly what he had ordered but he thought it was “cool.” The name of his drink was Agave 100. My drink of choice was the Alexa.
ENTREES
If I remember correct, it has been awhile. Luckily, I found a picture of out receipt. Remember this was back in 2021, so I don’t know if the menu has changed.
Our appetizer was wagyu. We selected the Hokkaido Rib (2 Oz). It was so flavorful and melt in your mouth. We cooked it at the table on Hot Rocks, which was its own experience.
Four our entrees: 16 oz prime ‘bone in’ filet and Long Bone Cowboy. We ordered the filet cooked medium rare and the cowboy steak cooked medium. Our sides were half size of crab elote and four cheese mac.
DESSERT
If you know about Nick & Sam’s in Dallas, you know about their iconic Rainbow cake and cotton candy. It wouldn’t be a birthday dinner celebration without CAKE right? This cake was soooo good. I felt like I needed an entire cake to myself. Yet, that would’ve cost us $165 alone.
COST
I told you, we knew it would be expensive. You could easily go and spend significantly less if you share your entrée and eliminate the “extras”. When we got to restaurants we like a full experience from the appetizers, drinks, entrée and dessert if we have room left.
This dining experience was exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant for any celebration, date night or family dinners. If you are going with other people, I would suggest letting them know it is pricey. After tax and tip, our total was almost $620.
It was well worth it to us. Recently, we have spoken about going back. It is an amazing restaurant and the food is like no other.
If you are in the DFW area or visiting, please check out Nick & Sam’s in Downtown Dallas. My food recommendations has never let someone down, so trust me when I say it is delicious.
